Government has planned to establish a Joint Operation Center to prevent the drug trafficking in Sri Lanka, said the Minister of Law, Order, and Southern Development Sagala Rathnayake. He added that steps were taken to update the prevention of drug trafficking through sea, air, and other alternative accesses.
Minister Rathnayake was answering a question for oral answers by UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana today (5) in Parliament.
According to the Minister, the operation center will comprise of officials from the Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Customs, Port Authority, Navy, Excise Department, and the Coastal Conservation Department.
