Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today refused the bail application of former Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman today.

The FCID opposed to the granting of bail on the grounds that the investigations are not over.

Karuna Amman was arrested and remanded for the alleged misuse of a state vehicle from January 2015 to August 2016, a charge he refuses.

He maintains that he did not use the vehicle in the period and that he had written to the Presidential Secretariat to take the vehicle back.
