The government will take decisions with the interest of the people in mind and it will not surrender to various mafias, UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim said yesterday.

Answering questions raised by the media after an event in Kegalle Vidyalaya, he said that the government has created an environment where anyone can criticize the government. State terrorism has ended and anyone can discuss their problems with the government, Hashim added.

He maintained that the strikers and protesters should look back and think if the basis of their protests are valid.
