Sri Lanka Transport Board sought police protection for its buses after up to 20 buses were attacked by protesters, as private bus owners went on a strike campaign.

Stones were pelted at a number of buses this morning.

Although the Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association claimed that it was not going on strike, most private buses were out of the roads today.
