Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris today allowed the CID to question former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake over the Rathupaswala shooting in 2013.

An officer in charge of the investigation today appeared before court during the inquiry on the murder of Wasim Thajudeen and said that the CID wants to question Senanayake on the deployment of the army and the steps taken to disperse the protest on August 1, 2013.

Senanayake was the then Senior DIG in charge of the region.

Three people died of shooting when the army clashed with protesters in Weliveriya on August 1, 2013.

The CID was allowed to question Senanayake between December 6 and 8.

Senanayake and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera were remanded further till December 14.
