Former Minister Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman, who was arrested by the FCID earlier today, was remanded till December 7 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya over alleged misuse of a Presidential Secretariat vehicle worth Rs 90 million.

It was informed by the police that the vehicle was used by Muralitharan after January 2015 till August 2016.

Muralitharan's lawyers told court that he had made a request for the return of the vehicle and the Presidential Secretariat had not responded. The vehicle was out of order too, it was told in court.
