The attendance allowance of a Member of Parliament is to be increased to Rs 2500 from Rs 500 per day.

The government will make this proposal as part of the increased benefits to be introduced to the MPs.

Their office rental will be increased to Rs 100,000 and insurance benefits are also to be increased.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today reiterated his intention of increasing the allowances of the MPs.
