The individual who was arrested for threatening the President and the Prime Minister through a Facebook video was remanded further till May 20 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris.
The CID said that the suspect Lakmana Arachchige Sugath had requested for political asylum in Malaysia while staying there without a visa.
The CID also said that the video was watched more than 4000 times through his Facebook page and there were many shares. The court, considering a request by the CID, called for a report on his computer from the University of Moratwa.
The suspect's lawyers said that he had made the comment due to disappointment at the state of affairs in the country. He was ready to apologize for the comments, the court was informed.
However, the CID said that the investigations have not been concluded and the court remanded the suspect further considering the objection by the CID.
