Fairly Heavy Showers Expected Across Parts of the Island

The Meteorology Department says that fairly heavy showers will occur in parts of Sri Lanka today, particularly in the Northern and Eastern provinces, with some areas likely to receive up to 50 mm of rain.

Showers or thundershowers are also expected to occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, North-western, and North-central provinces during the evening or night. The Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts, may experience heavier rainfall, exceeding 75 mm in some locations.

Misty conditions are anticipated in the morning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
