The Traffic OIC of Laggala Police was interdicted in relation to a drunken party which was held at Laggala Police the night before the theft of weapons from the armory.

The theft took place in the early hours of April 14, and the party had been held in the night of April 13, several hours before the theft.

The Traffic OIC was interdicted on the orders of Matale ASP Janak Weerasinghe with effect from today.

One policeman is in remand custody over the theft and two others have been suspended.
