The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has obtained a statement from DIG Motor Traffic Amarasiri Senaratne regarding the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, today morning.

Recently, a former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera was also arrested for allegedly hiding evidence related to the murder. Perera will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate again tomorrow.

Wasim Thajudeen’s body was found burnt in his crashed car near Shalika grounds on Park Road, Colombo, in May 2012.
