The Ministry of Law and Order has ordered the IGP to hold an inquiry against the former Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara.

The report of the inquiry should be submitted to Minister Sagala Rathnayake within three days, the Ministry informed the IGP yesterday.

Meanwhile, the IGP has been instructed not to use ASP Gunasekara in any media related task of Sri Lanka Police, pending the Minister's recommendations on the inquiry.

IGP Pujith Jayasundara suspended the Police Media Spokesman and the Police Media Unit after Gunasekara was accused of allegedly giving statements to a newspaper in a manner which exceeded his authority.
