UPFA MP and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday denounced the decision by the government to remove the military contingent of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's security details, saying that Rajapaksa needs VVIP protection due to etraordinary circumstances.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Gunawardene said that there were elements who are waiting to take revenge from Rajapaksa for destroying the LTTE.

Adding that the Joint Opposition had written to the President and the Prime Minister in this regard, Gunawardena said that unfair avenging should end.
