The Mirihana Police HQI and the Controller of Immigration and Emigration were issued notice by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya to appear in court on May 16 regarding the disappearance of the first suspect in the alleged kidney racket involving Indians.
The suspect, Suresh Lakshman Kumar, is thought to have left the country.
The Colombo Crimes Division told court that interpol assistance will be obtained to track him down.
Meanwhile, the lawyers appearing on behalf of the suspects said that their kidney surgeries have been done in accordance with Sri Lankan laws, with due permission obtained from the Secretary General of Health Services. The Magistrate ordered the lawyers to produce the relevant documents to court on the next date of hearing.
The case was fixed for May 16 and all suspects were further remanded till that day.
