Sri Lanka Transport Board stated that about Rs. 45 million was earned by providing buses for May Day celebrations.
SLTB Deputy General Manager of Transport Raja Gunatilake stated that about 4000 buses were ordered for May Day.
A number of political parties, trade unions, and various groups had paid to hire about 3500 buses by Saturday (31) afternoon, Gunatilake said.
Buses would run normally today, although the number of public transport buses were low due to the provision of buses for May Day celebrations yesterday, Gunatilake further said.
