Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila termed the first May Day march of his party as the first May Rally by the Sinhalese national movement.

Commenting on Facebook, he said that the Sihala Urumaya and the Jathika Hela Urumaya attempted to hold May rallies unsuccessfully.

However, the May Day rallies are important for the Sinhalese national movement, Gammanpila said.

Gammanpila's PHU will take part in the 'Joint Opposition' May Rally in Kirulapone.
