The former Principal of Southlands College, Galle, Shanthi W Seneviratne, has refused to handover the duties to the new principal Sandhyani Pathirawasam.

A group who were said to be parents of schoolchildren protested against the transfer of Seneviratne to the Zonal Education office. The protest turned violent yesterday as a group of women attacked a girl who was recording the protest.

The former Principal has refused to handover duties on the grounds that she had appealed against the transfer.
