Several areas in the Central Highlands received slight rainfalls yesterday, bringing a minor respite from the severe dry weather affecting the region.

Rains were reported from Hatton and Norwood last afternoon.

Dry weather has created drinking water shortages in the central highlands as the water sources are increasingly drying up. Meanwhile, water levels of the reservoirs are also reducing daily, affecting the hydro power generation.
