Leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay was named as the replacement for the injured Lasith Malinga in the Sri Lankan squad for T20 World Cup.

Malinga returned yesterday citing a knee injury, without playing a single game in the tournament or the preceding practice matches.

He had stepped down as the T20 captain before the tournament but expressed his willingness to play for the team. However, he later hit out at the selections committee for including him in the squad, saying that he was injured and could not possibly have played for the T20 World Cup.

Vandersay has played four T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka.
