The Colombo High Court today allowed for the revision application on granting bail to Nishantha Ranatunga and directed the Kaduwela Magistrate not to consider the Public Properties Act in deciding on granting bail.

In an interesting decision, the High Court directed the Magistrate that he should pay judicial mind in releasing the suspect on bail after considering the Bail Act.

The bail application will now be considered at Kaduwela Magistrate's Court.

Ranatunga was arrested with four others on January 30 on alleged money laundering at CSN. The other four suspects, including Yoshitha Rajapaksa, were released on bail on March 14.
