The Supreme Court terminated the Fundamental Rights petition filed by the mother of the child in Kuliyapitiya who was denied a school based on false HIV rumors, in view of the steps taken to admit him to Trinity College, Kandy.

The Ministry of Education informed court through a letter that it will take the responsibility for the welfare of the child.

The court directed that education is a universal right and the child in question could not be discriminated based on rumors.
