A meeting of the 'Joint Opposition' backing former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was held last night at UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena's residence.

The meeting was held under candlelight due to the power cut which affected the whole island.

Several leading members of the Joint Opposition including Wimal Weerawansa, Bandula Gunawardena and Udaya Gammanpila took part in the meeting.

The Joint Opposition is to hold a public rally against the government on March 17 in Colombo.
