The Ceylon Electricity Board celebrated its success of receiving 20,000 Facebook likes while the country was experiencing the "worst" power outage in 20 years.
Many subscribers, who posted their comments on the CEB's Facebook page, ridiculed the state-run institution for publishing this post while the entire country was grappling with a blackout.
While the CEB Facebook page celebrated its success at the most inauspicious moment, its Chairman announced on Monday evening that there would be sporadic power-cuts in many parts of the country within the next three days.
The Chairman too announced his resignation on Sunday night accepting responsibility for the six hour blackout - the longest power outage after 1996.
The Chairman's resignation however is yet to be accepted by the ministry.
