A meeting of SLFP Local Government representatives was held yesterday at the Coordinating Secretariat of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Battaramulla.

The meeting was called to discuss regarding the first rally of the protests series, which will be held on 17th March at Hyde Park ground Colombo, organized by the ‘joint opposition’ against the government.

The meeting was headed by UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena. A number of local government representatives including former Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, and Rohitha Abeygunawardana.

A party leader of the joint opposition announced that protesting rallies will address the issues of government decreasing agricultural subsidies, ETCA, hunting war heroes, postponement of elections, and suppressing public.
