Minister of Regional Development Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka called for the participation of international observers and advisors for UN inquiry on alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka, in his first Parliamentary speech earlier today.
He said that there needs to be no fear about international participation. He led the army according to the rules of warfare, Fonseka said.
Allowing foreign participation will increase the credibility of the inquiry, he added.
Fonseka was the Army Commander during the latter phase of the war against the LTTE. He was appointed to Parliament early this year.
