Two persons have been arrested for brutally killing an eagle by Habaraduwa polices yesterday.

A photo of a group of youth brutally killing and eagle was circulated on Facebook recently. The police has identified two people of the group and arrested following an entry made by Hikkaduwa Wildlife office.

Police stated that investigations are being held to arrest other suspects who have already fled the area.

The arrested were 46 and 42-year old residents of Wanchawala, Habaraduwa.

The photo of a group brutally killing an eagle which circulated Facebook has been uploaded by one of the group members. He had snapped several pictures of the incident and uploaded them on Facebook.

Suspects said that eagle was skinned and killed for food. However, they have not consumed it after finding a dead snake on its stomach.
