A group of civil activists who launched 'Occupy the Square' protest on March 6 wrote to the Cultural Affairs Minister about their concerns regarding the eviction of couples from public places with no legal basis.

Copies of the letter were sent to the President and the Prime Minister.

In the letter, the activists have questioned the Minister as to how the Sri Lankan culture can be damaged by a couple sitting together. They condemned the restrictions enforced in the name of culture.
