A Fundamental Rights petition filed by Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage, seeking an order against his imminent arrest by the CID over the alleged possession of a baby elephant elegally, was dismissed by the Supreme Court today.

The decision was announced by a three member bench comprising of Justices Eva Wanasundera, Buvaneka Aluvihare and KT Chithrasiri.

An elephant calf was allegedly held illegally by the Magistrate was handed over to wildlife officials in May 2015.
