The Parliament on Thursday will vote on the proposal to establish a Constitutional Assembly to draft a new constitution.
The resolution to establish a Constitutional Assembly was first tabled in Parliament by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on January 9. He proposed the conversion of the Parliament to a constitutional assembly.
However, the 'Joint Opposition' MPs and the JVP opposed this move and said that the process should go through a Parliamentary Select Committee.
The TNA has decided to vote in support of the proposal on Thursday.
