The Mirihana Police today recorded statements from three eyewitnesses of the accident allegedly involving Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.

The three eyewitnesses are friends of the youth who is still undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

The friends filed a complaint with the Police Headquarters on Friday, seeking an impartial inquiry on the incident.

Meanwhile, the Jathika Hela Urumaya today held a press conference and stressed that the Minister was not inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Champika Ranawaka was targeted due to political reasons, Media Spokesperson of the party Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said.
