North Western Provincial Council has decided to hold a special meeting today regarding the child in Kuliyapitiya who was wrongfully denied a school due to HIV-related false rumours.

North Western Provincial Minister of Education Sandya Kumara Rajapaksa stated that discussions will be held regarding the matter with the child and his mother. Several school Principals of the area and Zonal Education Directors have been called for the discussion.

Meanwhile, the child’s mother has filed a fundamental rights petition with the Supreme Courts on 3rd, naming Minister of Education, Kuliyapitiya Zonal Education Director, Principal of Kuliyapitiya Sambodhi Vidyalaya, and the Principal of Diyathalamulla Royal College as respondents.

She has said that she was being pressured by various parties.

Meanwhile, several colleges have agreed to enroll this child.
