Two individuals claiming to be eyewitnesses of the accident involving a vehicle of Minister Champika Ranawaka arrived at the Police Head Quarters with their lawyers last night and handed over a written complaint.

Through the complaint, they have stated that the driver of the jeep at the time of the accident was Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.

The accident took place on the night of February 28, in Rajagiriya. The jeep which was involved in the accident had fled the scene. However, a person who claimed to be the driver of the jeep had surrendered to the Borella Police after about 20 minutes of the accident. This individual was produced in court and released on surety bail.

Minister Champika Ranawaka maintains that he did not drive the vehicle at the time of the accident.
