President Maithripala Sirisena has called for a special Cabinet meeting today to discuss the provisions to be taken to repay the loans obtained by the former government.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake recently said that the government has uncovered previously unknown details of loans obtained by the present government. He said that the government was not aware of the situation even when the budget proposals were being prepared.

He also said that the Cabinet will be informed of the situation.
