Cabinet approval was granted for the construction of two elevated highways connecting the New Kelani Bridge with Rajagiriya and the Colombo Harbour, the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways said.

Accordingly the first highway from Rajagiriya to Kelaniya will be 6.9km in distance. It will be connected to Battaramulla, Malabe, Athurugiriya and the Outer Circular Highway.

The other elevated highway will be 5.8km long and will connect the Harbor entrance with the Kelani Bridge.
