Several farmers’ organizations in Hambantota staged a protest at Ambalantota town today.

The protesters demanded a guaranteed price for paddy, to continue providing the fertilizer subsidy, and to prevent difficulties farmers face when opening new bank accounts and taking photographs in that process.

The protest has been organized as a resistance to the government’s attempt to prevent farmers from farming.

Traffic in Tangalle – Tissamaharama road was disrupted due to the protest.
