An audio recording of Higher Education and Highways Minister Lakshman Kiriella exploding at a journalist for questioning a letter sent to the University of Kelaniya has been released on social media.

The Minister repeatedly insists that he was carrying out his powers and that the journalist should read the Universities Act first.

He uses very strong words and repeatedly insists that "you people are not journalists"
