President Maithripala Sirisena decided to remove Kanthi Kodikara from the post of SLFP Organizer in Maharagama Electorate, political sources said.

Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya, a staunch supporter of Sirisena, is expected to take her position.

Kodikara, wife of Western Provincial Councilor Upali Kodikara, is a strong supporter of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Kanthi Kodikara is one of ten local councilors against whom the SLFP has decided to take disciplinary action. She addressed the media after the announcement of the decision, and expressed her support for Rajapaksa.
