Excavations in a land in Medamulana, owned by Major Neville Wanniarachchi, the former chief security officer of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, will be continued today.
Excavations were conducted using backhoes over 6 hours yesterday.
The search operation is carried out under a warrant issues by the courts.
The excavations are being done following a tip received by the police that gold and cash was buried in the land, CID sources said.
Wanniarachchi is among one of the three former security officers of Rajapaksa who are being investigated for alleged money laundering.
The CID recently obtained a magisterial order to call for bank details of the three.
