Sri Lanka Freedom Party Bikkhu Organization Chairman Rakava Jinarathana Thera called President Maithripala Sirisena to handover the operational leadership of the party to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Addressing a media conference today, he said that certain individuals with vested interests are attempting to divide the party. Attempts by power hungry individuals must be stopped for the protection of the party, he further said.

Jinarathana Thera said that he has nothing against Sirisena functioning as the President of the country. His fear is for the party that might be divided due to the differences that have arisen, he added.
