The Government Medical Officers' Association is expected to meet tomorrow to consider further action following serious allegations levelled at it by the Prime Minister and several other ministers in government.

Members of several other trade unions in the health sector are also expected to take part in the meeting.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently slammed the GMOA repeatedly, alleging that it is against the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement with India because it was a pro-Rajapaksa union.

The Prime Minister also threatened to take action if the GMOA decides to launch a strike. They will be striking not against the government but against its one million jobs program, Wickremesinghe said.

Meanwhile, Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando questioned the qualifications of the GMOA to speak about the IT sector.

The GMOA is at the forefront of the anti-ETCA movement launched by motre than a dozen professional associations including those of doctors, engineers, IT sector professionals and others.
