The order preventing former Minister Mervyn Silva's son Malaka Silva from entering night clubs was extended till August by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday.
The order was given when the case filed against him for allegedly assaulting a foreign couple at a local night club was taken up for hearing.
Silva has also filed a counter case.
However, Silva's lawyers informed court that he would like to come to a settlement over the case with the couple involved and requested the ban on visiting night clubs lifted. The lawyers of the couple said that they were not instructed on coming to a settlement.
Therefore, the Magistrate ordered the case to be heard again on August 25 and said the ban will be in force until that day.
Meanwhile, the CCD told court that the AG's advice has been sought regarding the case but the AG had not given any instructions to date. Therefore, the Magistrate also sent a note to the AG to expedite the probe into the matter.
