The first Google Loon test balloon was landed safely in Gampola yesterday, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando said.

"Flight control of safely landing the balloon under standard operating procedures was successfully carried this evening. The balloon was landed in Gampola. Google Operation team, ICTA and air traffic control coordinated the successful landing" Fernando said, posting a status update on Facebook last night.

A balloon landed in Pupurussa in Gampola yesterday, raising concerns that it had fallen due to a malfunction.

The first test balloon of the Google Loon project in Sri Lanka was launched on Monday.
