A group of Sri Lanka Freedom Party local council members will hold a meeting today to decide on their next step regarding the party decision to take disciplinary action against some of them.
Several local councilors held a press conference yesterday and slammed the party leadership for its arbitrary action. Several SLFP members burned or tore the letters sent to them informing the party decision.
Chairman of Maharagama Urban Council Kanthi Kodikara maintained that the party will have to take disciplinary action against a majority of its members following the conference in Negombo.
Meanwhile, at a recent meeting, SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake said that the party is ready to face any crisis. Even if former President Mahinda Rajapaksa takes 95 percent of the party membership with him, it would not matter, he stressed.
