Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today hit out at what he called the 'Rajapaksa-gang' in Parliament for attempting to sabotage the Parliamentary Bill ensuring increased representation for women in local government bodies.
Delivering a special statement to the media in Badulla, he said that the government took an important first step in providing women proper representation, by allocating a minimum of 25% of membership in local government bodies.
However, when the bill was tabled in parliament, the “Rajapaksa-gang” attempted to sabotage it, Wickremesinghe maintained.
Meanwhile, he once again warned media, saying that steps will be taken against institutions who went beyond the limit of decency.
