Police yesterday informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya that convicted drug smuggler Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara alias Wele Suda had conducted drug trafficking operations over the phone while in prison.

Wele Suda has been already sentenced to death over drug smuggling.

Meanwhile, the police obtained a Magisterial order to record a statement from Suranga Sampath, an inmate at Kalutara prison, who is allegedly involved in this racket.
