Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee decided to take disciplinary action against members who criticized the party and its leadership.
The party is likely to take disciplinary measures against several local councilors who criticized the party during recent meetings.
Furthermore, the CC also decided to prohibit its MPs from sitting independent in Parliament.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the CC held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena early this afternoon.
State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena told media that the Central Committee took the decision unanimously.
