Heavy traffic was reported in the Town Hall area due to a protest launched by several professional organizations against the ECTA to be signed between India and Sri Lanka.

Several professional organizations and some university students were engaged in the protest. The protesters started a march around the Viharamahadevi Park.

A rally will also be held at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre.
