Ishara Sandaruwan established a new South Asian Games Record in Men’s Pole Vault after clearing 4.90 metres yesterday. Muhammed Ayub of Pakistan held the previous record since 2006 with a performance of 4.81 metres.

Sandaruwan grabbed the Sri Lankan Pole Vault record as well, breaking Ruwan Pradeep Perera’s record of 4.85 metres which was held for 17 years.
