Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe and other respondents were given till March 2 by the Court of Appeal to file objections to a petition challenging her appointment to Parliament.
The court gave this direction yesterday when the writ petition filed by five residents of Galle was taken up for hearing.
The petitioners requests the Appeals Court to disqualify Kumarasinghe as a Member of Parliament on the grounds that she is a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Switzerland.
Kumarasinghe, the Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Elections Commissioner and the SLFP General Secretary are respondents in the case.
The lawyer representing the SLFP General Secretary said that his client will not be filing objections.
