Kalutara District Western Provincial Council Member Sumith Lal Mendis was sworn in as the Western Province Health Minister, Child Probation and Women's Affairs a short while ago.

The post were taken over by Chief Minister Isura Devapriya in December 2015, when the expenditure heads on the ministries held by WPC member Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe were defeated.

Mendis is a member of the SLFP.
